Global Head of Chinmaya Mission, Worldwide
His heart completely moved and inspired, in 1984 Swami Swaroopananda gave up his family’s thriving business in Hong Kong to undergo intensive training under Swami Chinmayananda and Swami Tejomayananda at Sandeepany, Mumbai. He was initiated into the monastic order in 1992. Since then, he has touched thousands of lives across the world, and his tremendous work in bringing out the essential wisdom and underlying unity of all religions has garnered him a place among the vanguards of self-development philosophy. Currently serving as the Global Head of Chinmaya Mission Worldwide, Swamiji travels continuously, spreading the message of Vedanta through Yajnas and workshops.
Swamiji will be conducting the Gayatri Mantra and Bhagawad Geeta discourses during this week of spiritual bliss.
Resident Acharya, CMWRC
A graduate from the 8th Vedanta Course, Swami Dheerananda served in Chinmaya Mission in India conducting Jnana Yajnas and then in the year 1989, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda placed him as Resident Acharya in Chinmaya Mission Washington Regional Center. Since 1989 Swami Dheerananda has been serving the United States and Canada. Today, Swamiji oversees and guides all the activities of CMWRC, and personally presides over 3 Bala Vihar sessions and Adult Gita Classes at Silver Spring chapter (Chinmayam), conducts Thursday Vedanta classes, and CMWRC Children Summer Camps in Maryland and Northern Virginia.
During this dynamic week, Swamiji will take special classes for Bala Vihar, CHYK, and JCHYK groups.
Having been exposed to Geeta fundamentals and strong sense of duty during his childhood, multitude of events, especially passing of his father, drove Avinashji to seek a deeper meaning of Life and found himself at the doorstep of Chinmaya Mission, Trinidad. He left his business of film-making to fully devote his time to selfless dedicated service, and under the tutelage of Swami Prakashananda, completed the Vedanta study to become the 1st Brahmachari produced by Swami Prakashananda. Proficient in Sanskrit, Vedanta and Vedic Chanting, He is currently serving as Acharya at Chinmaya Mission, San Juan, Trinidad. He also conducts Vedanta camps, Chyk events and related programs in Trinidad and across the USA.
Tired of the inconsistent peace associated with extrovert pursuits, Acharya Vivek decided to turn his journey within.
In 2005 Vivekji attended the 13th Vedanta Course. Discovering that the only purpose of life is to be infinite, constantly and unconditionally happy, Vivekji continues to explore this purpose by sharing the same with others. Vivekji serves as the Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission Niagara, the Deputy Director of Chinmaya Yuva Kendra West and as the Visiting Acharya of Chinmaya Mission Pittsburgh. Acharya Vivekji is very popular with children, youth, and adults of CMWRC. He conducted many retreats, spiritual camps, and workshops at all three chapters and local universities.
Vivek Ji will be conducting the CHYK and JCHYK camps during this exciting week.
Having grown up as a Bala Vihar child in Houston, TX, Priya ji has been a long time member of Chinmaya Mission. Along with her husband Rahulji, she attended the 15th Vedanta course. Currently, she and Rahulji serve as the resident Acharyas of Chinmaya Somnath, in Northern Virginia. Priyaji conducts weekly study groups, Bhagavad Geeta classes and Bala Vihar classes.
