If you are a rising 9th – 12th grade Balavihar student, we would love to have you as a Youth Volunteer for our annual Chinmayam Summer Camp!

Volunteering as a Youth Counselor at the Chinmaya Mission Summer Camp is a fun and rewarding experience involving a wide variety of tasks and responsibilities. The primary job of the volunteers is to look after children under their care and help the camp run smoothly while fostering a fun and caring environment. Volunteers are expected to be role models for the younger children, exemplifying respect to elders, duty, and self-control.

Applications will be accepted until 11:59pm on March 16. After then, the application will close, with no exceptions being made. If you have any questions about the Youth Volunteer program or application, please contact Vinay Mallikaarjun at vinay.mallikaarjun@gmail.com.

Please read the following Youth Volunteer Code of Conduct. As a Youth Volunteer, you agree to the following:

  3. At no point during the day will you use your phone for any reason, unless a camp adult allows you to.
  4. As a Youth Volunteer, you agree to treat everyone (Swamiji, all camp administrators, all camp teachers, all campers, all fellow Youth Volunteers) with kindness and respect.
  5. As a Youth Volunteer, you agree to perform all tasks that are assigned to you by Swamiji, the camp teachers, and/or the camp administrators (including but not limited to: helping teachers with classes, responsibly supervising groups of children, various chores around the ashram, etc.) to the best of your ability.

In the afternoon they will have lunch and monitored social time from 1-2 pm and then an activity/project-driven class with the dance, art, yoga or athletics instructor from 2-3 pm. The instruction will be live with a focus on movement and working with their hands. The students will then meet with the bhajan teachers and Swamiji for bhajan, chanting, and stories and their significance. They will end the day with Swamiji after closing prayers.
