Mindful practice of YOGA Asanas, Breathing Exercises and YOGA Nidra

Hatha Yoga is a preparatory set of activities to bring the body and mind into alignment while developing strength and flexibility necessary to sit for meditation. Regular practice of yoga helps to develop discipline and self control required for Jnana Yoga.

Asana practices and pranayama are not intended to serve as ‘exercise’.  Asana (posture), Pranayama (control of Prana through breathing techniques), Mudra (hand positions), Mantra (chanting), Banda (locks in the body), Meditation, and Relaxation are utilized to achieve a calm mind. A quiet mind is required for deeper self inquiry. Cleansing activities, controlled diet and lifestyle approaches are also important in Hatha Yoga.
